Wedding planners like what Indian River has to offer

SAM WOLFE Correspondent Jamie Sears, right, of Simply Chic Events, and Terri Eaves, of Bash Weddings and Events, both in Washington, D.C., look over the Hall of Giants at McKee Botanical Garden during a tour of locations around Vero Beach that the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce is trying to market as wedding destinations.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Angela Proffitt and Whitney Lowery are two wedding planners from Nashville, Tenn., who are anxious to bring some brides and grooms to Indian River County.

The two are part of the tourism trip this week for 40 wedding consultants to show what the area has to offer for couples planning their upcoming nuptials.

The trip was co-sponsored by the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce, along with Costa d’Este Beach Resort, Vero Beach Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. All of the planners were at Costa d’Este for lunch on Thursday and will conclude their trip with brunch at Disney on Friday morning.

“We wanted to visit the three resorts and bring our findings back to our clients,” said Proffitt, who is the owner of Elegant Weddings By Angela in Nashville.

Proffitt said she handles between 50 and 80 weddings each year, and that her typical destination wedding client spends upwards of $50,000 for their big day.

“We’ve had a great experience seeing everything that this area has to offer,” said Proffitt. “Although there was a lot of stuff packed into a short amount of time, I think it was very smart for the hotels to work together as a team on this type of trip.”

Weddings in Thailand Review

A review from tripadvisor.com to SABOEY , one of Thailand's wonderful beach wedding destinations.

“An amazing stay with so amazing people..” - London

I went to the Saboey Resort and Villas with my girlfriend for a romantic and peaceful trip in Thailand t. To be honest i had some prejudices regarding Thailand but reality proved me wrong...what an amazing stay we had...we rented the Garden villa for two weeks and i have to admit i will now think twice before judging a country...our stay was amazing...the service was close to perfect and we felt so taken care of....i would recomend this resort to anyone...and especially someone who is planning on proposing...at least i know it worked for me

“Honeymoon in Paradise” - Rotterdam
weddings in Thailand

We spent the first four days of our honeymoon at Saboey. The pick up at the airport in their own car/taxi was proper.
The bed was decorated beautifully with roses and rose petals. There was also a complementary basket of flowers and fresh fruit. The scent of the aromatic oils made the romantic feel complete along with the hearthy reception and welcome drinks.

We've dined at several places on Koh Samui, but the food at Saboey itself was good enough to even make us take cooking class there. Their chef is an enthusiatic and modest man with a fantastic sense of taste. The prices might seem high compared to Thai standards, but for European standards, it was first class food for very little money.

The spa was very good especially the traditional Thai massage. Again, might seem expensive for Thai standards, but quality wise not that expensive at all.

Jeff, the manager, has trained a polite and attentive staff, providing in your every need.
We definitely hope to come back some day soon.

A Perfect Beach Wedding Attire

If you are planning to have a beach themed wedding, then I have some tips that can make your beach wedding a perfect occasion of your life.

Beach weddings are rather more casual then formal weddings. Thus wearing casual beach wedding dress that gives you the freedom to enjoy every bit of the occasion is your best bet.

There are beautifully designed beach wedding attires available for brides and bridegrooms.

Brides can adore wearing light wedding gowns, either halter styles or backless long gowns. Wearing a waterproof wedding gown is the best pick to enjoy the beach fun and frolic with others. Brides can choose to wear trendy flip-flops that best matches their beach wedding attires or can go barefooted. The idea of wearing shoes on beach sands is rather weird. So try wearing lightweight sandals or Slip-on beach wedding shoes to set up the tone for your wedding.

Five Tips to Choose Your Wedding Food

The most important part of the wedding, at least for the majority of the guests, is the reception. Needless to say, a greater percentage of success in events depends on food prepared; so, wedding food planning must be well thought of. Yes, food can make or break your wedding, which you have prepared so hard to make it oh-so-perfect. Therefore, make it your priority. Do not underestimate the fact that you are throwing a wedding party not only to share the occasion of your union with your guests, but you are also giving them a feast on food. Thus, time and effort must be invested on wedding food planning. Here are five tips to consider:

1. In looking for a company to provide a catering service for your wedding, ask for referrals from friends and relatives who have been wed. They know better than you do (unless you have the 'nose' for good food). Ask for appointment from each of these companies. Make sure that you have given them even the smallest idea of what you expect from them. Choose the one which has the most interesting package.

2. Consider not only the cost, but more importantly, the quality of the food; thus, food tasting should happen right on your first meeting. Ask your groom to go with you. Both of you have to decide on this matter so that no one is to be questioned with the menu choices.

Indian millionaire weddings key niche

The Indian wedding business could bring in 30-40 billion baht to Thailand, says Satish Sehgal, president of the India Thai Business Association.

"Indians are interested in holding weddings in Thailand. Bringing in millionaires from India could result in 30 billion baht in additional revenue from this industry per year," said Mr Sehgal.

He said each millionaire coming to Thailand as a wedding host brings 500 people and stays in Thailand for around seven days. Each party spends between 100 million and 150 million baht per stay.

"This year's target is 30-40 parties, which is not enough," said Mr Sehgal. The aim is for 200 to 300 nationwide.

"Holding overseas weddings is a fashion, and it takes only three to four hours to travel from India to Thailand. Our five-star hotels are twice as cheap as Indian hotels, with even more facilities and activities for the whole family," said Mr Sehgal.

Some Indians go to Malaysia or Singapore, but Thailand is the top destination for overseas weddings, he said.

India has the most dollar billionaires in Asia, with 33, and thousands of millionaires, he said.

In addition to weddings, Mr Sehgal also deals with several types of investment, and he pointed out Thailand has a positive image in Indian eyes. The only problem is that the Map Ta Phut legal impasse has caused a decrease in investor confidence, he said.

"Investors have asked about Map Ta Phut but we have been telling them it is something that affects the public and the government is doing all they can to solve the problem. We also want factories to give increasing importance to corporate social responsibility," added Mr Sehgal.
